Full Handle Rod Float Installation | Savur Outdoors

Installing your Savur Full Handle Rod Float is simple with the right tools and careful prep. Follow these steps to get a secure and professional-grade install.

Tools Needed

  • Safety glasses
  • Utility knife
  • Fine grit sandpaper
  • Measuring tape
  • Masking tape
  • Paper towels
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Optional: Drill with ¼” bit, Dremel tool or metal saw

What’s in the Kit

  • Fully assembled Savur Full Handle Rod Float
  • 2-part epoxy
  • Mixing stick

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Unpack Your Kit

Verify all included parts and prep your workspace.

2. Expose the Rod Blank

Cut off the end of the rod’s handle grip to reveal the rod blank.

3. Flush the Blank

Ensure the exposed blank is cut clean and flush. This will be your reference point for all measurements.

4. Clear the Rod Blank (If Needed)

Some rods may contain counterweights or epoxy that block the blank. Use a ¼” drill bit to carefully remove any obstruction.

5. Measure & Mark

From the end of the blank, make 3–4 marks around the handle at 1-3/8”.

6. Protect the Handle

Wrap masking tape tightly around the marked section to protect the remaining handle from damage or epoxy residue.

7. Remove Handle Material

Cut carefully around the tape line and make a few perpendicular cuts to peel off the handle material. Use sandpaper to clean up the rod blank.

8. Dry Fit

Test fit the Savur Rod Float. If it’s loose, wrap masking tape around the blank—leave some blank exposed on both ends for proper epoxy bonding. The float should fit snugly before epoxy is applied.

9. Prep for Epoxy

Prepare your epoxy mix and have paper towels and alcohol wipes ready.

10. Apply Epoxy

Coat the prepared area with epoxy. It will begin to harden in 3 minutes—work quickly.

11. Attach and Align

Push the float on using a twisting motion. Align the Savur logo on top of the rod.

For spinning rods: the logo should face opposite the reel.

12. Clean Up

Wipe away any excess epoxy immediately with a paper towel and clean residue with alcohol wipes.

13. Finish

Remove the tape protecting your handle. Let the epoxy cure for a minimum of 3 hours.

You're Done!

Your Savur Full Handle Rod Float is now securely installed and ready to protect your gear.
